Susan Anne is a resilient woman and mother who has repeatedly overcome tremendous difficulties and crises while maintaining a happy & hopeful disposition. Susan endured years of abuse before taking courageous steps to break free for the sake of her own and the children's safety. Repeated attempts to persuade her husband to get counseling were rebuffed.

On February 16, 2012, an older child called 911 on her father because he was attacking her sibling and Susan, who had intervened.  That was his first arrest; a subsequent arrest for violations of the restraining order occurred at a later date.  He was the sole breadwinner for most of the 19 years Susan was married to him.  Susan has been an at-home mom all this time, occasionally picking up babysitting, transcriptioning services, and state fair jobs to help earn money, in addition to raising the children.

As a result of breaking free, Susan's former husband retaliated with a refusal to support his own children adequately, forcing Susan to find ways to support the children while navigating the legal maze of family court. Susan has been in and out of court multiple times trying to maintain safety and secure support for the children.  Even with state-enforced child support in place now, the continued financial manueverings of Susan's former husband means her family cannot make ends meet entirely on their own.

Susan cares for her many children day in and out, while seeing to all their needs and activities, including wholesome opportunities which help them heal from everything they've been through.

Susan is an active citizen, known to many in her community, her state, and beyond. Any moneys donated will be used firstly towards immediate basic living expenses, including medical costs, and secondly towards critical home repair costs.

Thank you for giving this incredibly strong family your show of support as they continue their journey upwards and onwards away from the dark past and towards total self-sufficiency.
