Robin's Brakes

Donation protected
In January of 2005, I became t oo sick to work.  I had been a Respiratory Therapist at my home town hospital.  It turned out that my thyroid had gone haywire.  When all was said and done, I was still too sick to work in March.  That is when my sick leave ran out and I was fired for not being able to return to work.

I was born with a heart defect that was made worse by the thyroid problems.  I also have limited lung function.  In early 2006, I applied for disability.  In June, I received a letter saying I was being placed on disability.  Later that month, we had major flooding in our town and our house was one of only two that were condemned because of damage.

We bought a house in another town and in September of 2006, my lungs had become bad enough that I was placed on oxygen 24 hours a day.

I have eympysema, high blood pressure, pulmonary hypertension and my heart problems as well as the thyroid problem.   I have been living on my own for several years now and I have trouble making ends meet every month with my only income being my disability check..  I do not qualify for food stamps, Medicaid or help with my housing.  I do have Medicare, thankfully.

My car is a 2006 Subaru Impreza. I leased it in 2005.   I was able to pay it off in 2008 when I cashed out my IRA account.  I cannot afford to buy a different car because I cannot afford a car payment every month.  However, I need new rear brakes on my car by January, 2016 so it will pass inspection.  This will cost $700, which I do not have and cannot raise before January.  I am hoping this GoFundMe campaign can help me raise the money I need.
