Jodi Butler's Medical Fund
Shortly after our wedding, in August and December 2013, before being able to be active on my husband's insurance, I wound up in the ER for issues relating to abdominal issues. In the first case, I had swollen like a balloon in a matter of hours, which led to the discovery of the gall stones and cysts. In the second case, a cyst had burst. I've had to be referred to specialists because my abdominal issues had not started to ease up.
The result, though, was $12,000 in debt from the first visit ($8,000 of which was just for CT scans) and $3,000 more from the second. In which, doesn't include the amount of out of pocket expenses to be paid for the services rendered from the primary dr, and the specialists as well.
Now that I am on my husband's insurance, the situation continues, as I have needed endoscopy, flexible sigmoidscopy, colonscopy, more CT scans, and more, in an effort to either diagnose and treat or hopefully rule out multiple forms of cancer.
At the moment, the sense is that my health situation is causing us to drown, and every time we feel as though we have come up for air, we get smacked right back down again by another visit or appointment, another series of tests, and another bill.
To put it bluntly, I need help from friends and family to get us through this ordeal. With more tests to come, the light at the end of the tunnel can not yet be seen...
