MY DOG NEEDS MEDICAL ATTENTION

today i woke up to my sister sobbing.... i raced to my feet and found that my neighbors dogs had ripped our chihuahua through the fence and completely mauled him. he is currently in surgery with about a 30% chance of survival. even if he survives we still don’t know if he will be paralyzed or have any other complications. the doctors told us that all of his skin/muscles seem to have been separated and if the air pockets don’t heal on their own the muscle will die and rot and we will have to put him to sleep. if that happens it will be excruciatingly painful on top of the pain he’s already endured.
**PLEASE READ ALL OF THIS TO UNDERSTAND OUR SITUATION. PLEASE. I KNOW IT IS A LOT BUT I JUST NEED SOMEONE TO READ THIS AND UNDERSTAND**we have had an issue with my neighbors dogs for about a year now. she got the dogs for “protection” after her house was robbed and her firearms were stolen. she warned us time and time again that they are aggressive dogs. she stated on multiple occasions that the dogs are there as attack dogs to protect their property. about 10 months ago they began ripping up the fence posts with their teeth, from the bottom up. anytime our dogs, our TODDLERS, or any of ourselves walk into our backyard any further than the porch, their dogs go crazy, absolutely lose their minds. we’ve notified them of this OVER AND OVER AND OVER. they occasionally go out there and nail some wood over the holes. about 7 months ago one of their dogs got out and into the neighbors yard on the other side of their house. the dog tried to attack her for going into her own backyard. so she called animal control services and the dog was picked up. our neighbors that own the dog didn’t want to pay to get it back, so they just let it die. they literally just left it there to get euthanized.. not even 2 weeks later they got another pit. now you must understand, i have nothing against any breed of dogs. i have owned pit bulls, my dog niece is a pure pit (yes i have a niece relationship with a dog). i have ALWAYS and still to this day believe that it is not the dog it is the human. my neighbors specifically raise these dogs to be aggressive purely for the f*cking aesthetic. like “oh look at my big bad pit bull” like it gives them some kind of f*cking tough guy credentials. hopefully other people can agree, those types of humans are SICKENING. anyways, about 5 months ago their dogs got completely loose in our backyard. they were back there running around and marking their territory for over 30 minutes while we continuously called our neighbor to help us get them out. they were literally growling at us through our sliding glass back door while we hid in OUR house. luckily none of our loved ones were outside at the time. we knew we should’ve called animal control at the time but we just did not want any dogs ever to be euthanized. we tried so hard to work with the neighbors just for the sake of the dogs. listen, i save spiders, i haven’t eaten an animal in over 10 years, i have literally stopped and buried animals that got hit by cars and left for dead; i just did not have the heart to hurt an animal or to send them off to their lethal injection...... i’m regretting having that heart now.... when i heard my sister sobbing “i think they got my dog” i leapt up and just ran. i ran to their house as fast as my legs would allow. she was outside and getting into her vehicle at the time so i stopped and tried to get the words out. at this point i was already hyperventilating, i didn’t even think to stop for my inhaler, i tried to get the words out but it was just coming out in pieces and gasps of air. my sister told her they got her dog so my neighbor let her go through their house to their backyard. i ran back through my house into my yard and just hopped up on my fence so i could see..... i also regret that now..... i thought for sure he was dead. there was white hair and blood all over and he was sitting in a lifeless heap. as my sister scooped him up the dogs were still trying to get him. lunging and snarling at my sister while she was trying to get out of there. (this is were everything gets very hard for my mind and my heart to process) i was screaming and crying by this time, “are you ok?” “is he ok” “is he alive” “sister are you ok” “is he breathing” i ran inside and then to the front yard, he was barely breathing, he wasn’t moving, he was covered in blood, his neck legitimately looked snapped....... i can never unsee that. i cannot get the image of my FRIEND mauled and bloody, clinging to life. ...... and then my neighbor just continued to get in her car and leave. i was trying to get her attention. i was bawling, and panicking, and calling out to her and they just drove away. not once did she ask if our dog was ok, or if we were ok, not once did she apologize or even show any care. when animal control and the police came she legitimately told them “it’s their fault, their dog was on my property” my chihuahua is an extremely fat lil guy, he absolutely would not be able to walk through a fence post. he would have to be physically FORCED through a space so thin. as we were crying and speaking with the police our neighbors had pizza delivered, started a fire in their fireplace, and just acted like nothing happened. i cannot wrap my head around this. everything that is going on but also the fact that there are actually humans so heartless. the ways the laws are set up, animals really have no rights. so since no HUMAN was harmed, no one really f*cking cares. no one will do anything. no one will actually help. they’ve been issued a few citations. but nothing really. they won’t take the dogs away, the neighbors are refusing to get them out of here and still, RIGHT NOW, they’re growling at us from their yard. my dog has to be kept at the animal hospital for no less than 48 hours. his bill is already over $3,000 dollars, not including the overnight costs or the potential costs if complications occur. now here i need to get a bit personal so you can truly understand how devastating this is. this has been the hardest year for my family. currently living in my household we have 2 single moms, 3 toddlers, and two older adults. but there is only 1 income. my family had never struggled as hard as we have this year. this past week we have been fretting over christmas, how we will afford it/where will we even put our tree. none of us actually expected this to happen. i am not the one to ask for help, i’m personally more of a suffer in silence type of person but i do not know what else to do. this isn’t something we can handle on our own. i have a five year old girl here who has been crying for over six hours now because she’s terrified of losing her best friend. this dog is literally like her security blanket. without fail she holds him till she falls asleep nightly. i don’t know what to do or how to handle this. not emotionally, physically, legally, or financially. any help anyone could offer would be so appreciated. absolutely ANY small bit of help would be a miracle for us. please, if you cannot donate or help in other ways, please, PLEASE pray for my dog and my family. please everyone pray my dog will be ok.
******ALSO***** i am desperately trying to find any animal activist group, animal rehibilitaion places, any organization with enough voice/influence who can help me save their dogs too. their dogs have caused my family an unbelievable amount of stress and sadness but my heart still just doesnt want another animal to be punished because of the selfishness of a human. but those dogs CANNOT stay here. they are literally putting our family and the other families in my neighbood at risk. we are not safe. those dogs are still trying to get at us and our other nighbors. their owners have specifically raised and mistreated those dogs in attempts to make them more vicious. they were brought here after a break-in purely for the purpose of intimidating people. their owners have caused those dogs to be aggressive and havent cared not one bit that their aggression is threatening the safety of others. disgusting humans like that do not deserve pets. i wish someone with enough voice/influence could take all of their animals away to sanctuaries for aggressive animals. they treat those dogs like an appliance. when their other pit got into the neighbors yard on the other side, animal control took him away. the neighbors didnt feel like paying to get him out SO THEY JUST LET HIM GET EUTHANIZED. about two weeks later, JUST GOT ANOTHER PIT. as i stated, they originally got those dogs after a break-in souly to intimidate people. they have only ever USED these animals to promote fear in others. i have not once seen ANYONE go into that yard with them, i have never seen them be pet, i have never heard anything but them snarling at each other, no "good dogs" or gentle praises. i have witnessed these dogs receive ZERO love the entire time they've been in that backyard. they never go inside. they just stay in that backyard fighting each other and trying to get at anyone or anything on my property and also anyone or anything on their other neighbors property. last winter WE gave our neighbors two huge dog igloos because WE FELT SAD FOR THOSE DOGS, left out there freezing, not even given a blanket. those dogs have been ripping our fence apart for months, they have gotten completely free into our backyard, they have been a constant problem every single day since they got here, but we always call THE NEIGHBOR instead of ANIMAL SERVICES because we DIDNT WANT THOSE DOGS TO DIE LIKE THEY LET THEIR OTHER DOG DIE. WE CARE ABOUT DOGS. but since we didn't contact the law, the police are pretty much looking at us like we're dumb. telling us "well you should've reported before".
