Help me become a Flight Instructor

Donation protected
Hello everyone, my name is Rainstar Luke. I am a 29 year old Kalinago Indian from the Commonwealth of Dominica, born in Salybia, Kalinago Territory. I dreamed of being an airline pilot as a child, I was fortunate to have family friends who were pilots and flew a light twin engine Cessna 421 from Canefield Airport. My first taste of being at the controls was flying in the Caribbean as a child and teenager. I fell in love with aviation and it is my passion which is why I made a decision to pursue this as a career.

In August 1999 I was given the opportunity of a lifetime to be mentored and become an apprentice to a retired Swedish airline pilot Daniel Rundstrom to build a Vans RV 8 kit built plane in the mountain village of Cochrane. For 3.5 years Daniel provided me with aviation groundschool and the opportunity to build a plane in the Nature Island of the Caribbean. Building a plane was a fantastic experience it taught me patience, dedication & motivation to not only fly but to complete our aircraft on time so we could display our aircraft at one of the largest airshows Sun N Fun 2003 celebrating 100 years of flight.

Our project of building the airplane in Dominica was turned into a documentary by Director Lara Juliette Sanders of Lombardo Films GMBH "Celebration of Flight". Celebration of Flight is about two different people, generations apart who share the same dream to fly free as birds in the sky following us through the challenges of building an aircraft in the Caribbean. This experience has been a positive one providing me knowledge in aviation that I have used successfully in college to achieve my goals.

What qualifications do you have as a pilot? I have Transport Canada (Canada) & Federal Aviation Administration (USA) Comercial Pilot License & Multi EngineInstrument Ratings with 350 hour flight experience as a pilot. I have flown Cessna 152, Cessna 172, Piper Aztec & Piper Seminole with 350 hours flight experience as a pilot.

What positions have you held in the aviation industry?
I was a US regional airline flight attendant for 9 months and worked two summer internships for the Metro Washington Airport Authority.

Airport Operations Assistant July-Sept 2003

Airport Student Ambassador Program June-August 2004

What is your long term vision? My long term vision is use my skills and talents in aviation to help my Kalinago Indian tribe and country Dominica develop in the aerospace industry. I believe there is alot of potential to develop the aviation infrastructure and businesses ie airlines & corporate jet fractional ownership.

What proactive steps have you taken to help you prepare to return to flight school by June 2016?  I have taken the prerequisite Federal Aviation Administration written exams Fundamentals of Instruction & Certified Flight Instructor Airplane before I can enroll at PEA. My two exams have "PASS" mark which reduces my time in Flight Instructor Groundschool to focus on the flight portion of the course.

I attended Phoenix East Aviation in Daytona Beach, FL from June 22 to August 2015! I have compled my Certified Flight Instructor, Certified Flight Instructor" Instrument" and Multi Engine Instructor Groundschool plus started training for my CFII Part 141 course flying a Cessna C172 with Garmin G1000 Avionics. Unfortunately I was not able to continue training due to lack of funds as a result of funding delays therefore I am asking family, friends and sponsorsinvestors to contribute $$$$ to help me reach my full potential!

I am actively looking for education grants & scholarships to make my dream a reality.

I have a 3 year Ontario College Diploma from First Nations Technical InstituteCanadore as a part of their "Professional Pilot" program.

Thank you very much for considering my campaign to raise money to go back to school, if you are not able to donate please share my story. I hope I have inspired you to follow your dreams and passion from your heart. I would like to take this opportunity to thank my family, friends & sponsors who invested time, energy and money to make my dream a reality.

I represented Dominica and the Kalinago Territory in the International Air Rally 2016 aviation event from April 12-24 2016! Support a young Dominican pilot. It is an honor to represent Dominica in aviation as I share my passion. Please, please share and look at my picture profile on the link. It is a privilege to be recognized for my efforts with an excellent opportunity to network in the Caribbean inspiring young men and women to fulfill their dreams.
