Maggie's Fund
Donation protected
Just over one year ago our friend, then 12 year old, Maggie
Philbrook came down with what her parents thought was a stomach bug. Maggie
wasn't bouncing back from her flu so her parents took her to the doctor. Within
a couple of days young Maggie was diagnosed with a rare form of childhood cancer
called Alveolar Rhabdomyosarcoma.
This past year has had many ups and downs. One of the most unexpected things was Maggie's appearance in the CHaD produced video for the Katy Perry song, Roar. The video went viral with almost 4 million views on YouTube. Maggie even appeared on CNN with Piers Morgan talk about the experience with the video.
Maggie has been an inspiration to adults and kids alike throughout the last year. She has kept a positive attitude and taken all of the "inconveniences" of being a kid with cancer in stride. With the support of her amazing family and friends Maggie has fought a courageous battle. But even after all that Maggie has endured her family recently received news that the cancer has spread to her spine and the protective covering of her brain and there are no further treatment options to pursue.
The family has felt an overwhelming amount of love and support from the community this past year. Right now they could some financial support to help cover the medical expenses that have not been covered by insurance and to help the family cover living expenses as Maggie enters hospice care. Maggie's mom and dad have focused their energy on Maggie and her treatment and raising their two other beautiful children. Maggie's dad, Stefan, is a small business owner who has not had as much time to dedicate to work this past year which leaves less money to support the family.
This amazing family still has a long road ahead. Your donation in any amount will go a long way to helping them be able to focus their attention where it is needed during this difficult time. Anything you can give would be appreciated.
