Help Fund My Daycare Musical Comedy

Hey, I'm Irene Hernandez, and as an artist (actor, writer, director, producer), I've created my first musical - a dark comedy about working in daycare as an assistant teacher - called Parental Guidance Suggested (An Unfortunately True Musical Dramedy).

I've submitted Parental Guidance Suggested to  several festivals and theaters and I need to raise money - $4,000 for the production. These funds will go to the following: the entrance fee for festivals upon acceptance or theater rental, paying for props (playdoh, diapers, daycare snacks, etc.) to create the daycare on stage, costumes pieces for the cast, marketing costs, and to pay my cast of five actors and my composer, who will also play live during the play for the seven songs in the musical, as well as a crew if the festival does not provide one.

This project means so much to me because the musical is based on my experience working as an assistant teacher at my last full time daycare job, which to be blunt, was stressful and demoralizing, to say the least.  From this experience, I was inspired to write funny songs, which became the spine of the play, and to write a script that was brutally honest but with a sense of humor. As an artist, I tend to create my best work from negativity, which is why I'm so proud of creating this musical and having the chance to share it with everyone.
