Background:
The South Atlanta School of Health and Medical Sciences (HMS) strives to provide the best education and opportunity for advancement to all of our students regardless of their finances. As a public school we serve students from all backgrounds and our most studious and hardworking students deserve the opportunty to develop their critical thinking skills in Advanced Placement (AP) classes. In order to take full advantage of these classes they will need to take the AP test. An adequate score will allow students to recieve college credit for their hard work during the year. Unfortunately, these tests aren't free and many students are not in the position to pay the $80+ fee per test. We are hoping to raise funds to address the need for every student who has spent long hours preparing all year. Please help us to give all of our kids the best start in their post-secondary life.
Our Students:
All students will sit for tests in the following courses: AP Language, AP Literature and Composition, AP MacroEconomics, AP Biology
These students include the top 10% of our school, including the Valedictorian, Salutatorian, STAR student and others. As a Senior class these students have accumulated over $1.54 M in scholarship money, a phenomenal achievement as many are first generation high school graduates and college attendees.
Our School:
The School of Health and Medical Sciences serves students in grades 9-12 in one of the highest poverty areas in the city. The academy focus is STEM centered with a particular focus on the field of Nursing.
