Phil Packard Memorial Fund
Donation protected
It is with heavy hearts that we mark the passing of Phil Packard (known in the SCA as Lord Philippe Provost or Lorenzo Durango) on March 9, 2014, after a lengthy battle with cancer.
He is survived by his wife, Tricia Bentley, his children Joshua and Jonathan, and his stepchildren, Brittany, Ashleigh, Shyann, and Sterling.
Phil was our friend for several years - at one point he was one of our housemates - so we knew first hand how stubborn he could be. Phil wouldn't let us do a fundraiser for him to help him with his chemotherapy costs, but now we're determined do something for his family to help them with the outstanding medical bills and funeral costs.
Many of Phil's friends are probably aware that historical re-enactment and the Living History Association were just two of Phil's passions. In his honor, we have created the Phil Packard Memorial Fund at Bank5, and we will be holding a fencing tournament fundraiser and silent auction on Sunday, April 27, from 1 - 5 p.m. at the Police Athletic League of Fall River, 31 Franklin Street, Fall River.
For those of you who are unable to attend the fundraiser tourney, but who would still like to help the family, please consider making a donation either through GoFundMe.com or directly to the fund at Bank5 (please contact the [email redacted]
for information on direct donations).
In compliance with state and federal laws for fundraising for specific individuals, we need to inform everyone that donations made to the Phil Packard Memorial Fund are NOT tax-deductible and that donations in excess of $13,000 may be subject to taxation. In spite of this, we hope that people will still be willing to donate whatever amount they can. Proceeds from the fund raiser will be used to help the Packard family defray funeral costs and outstanding medical bills.
Thank you in advance!
