Heart Worm Treatment For Raina and Maddy
Donation protected
Our family recently adopted a new puppy, and as such, we have started her on all the right puppy preventatives and began to visit a new local vet. Unfortunately, our older dogs never took heart worm preventative (we used to visit a very negligent veteranarian who never encouraged or suggested it - NEVER AGAIN!) and both have tested positive for heart worms. The treatment program, which takes four months, is very costly, and I have the two dogs to pay for. Raina, a 3 year old German Shepherd mix, only tested positive for the adult worms, but Madison, my 7 year old Boston Terrier, tested positive for adult worms and had the offspring circulating in her blood. The treatment is crucial to the survival of my dogs, especially in the swampy area where we live where mosquitos swarm in abundance.
Treatment has already began, but in the coming months, especially in June and July, the individual vet bills for the battery of tests and procedures they will have to endure will be around $400 each dog per month. The total cost of all treatments and medications over the four month period is just over $1600. I am a local high school teacher and mother and my husband is currently enrolled in school, so money is very tight. Any little bit of help will be greatly appreciated. Please help save Raina and Madison!
