UGANDA 2017

I am going back to Uganda this August for a medical mission trip with Peninsula Community Church! Every year we partner with a church in Bombo, Uganda to bring doctors and various medical personnel for an entirely free, week long clinic available the community of Bombo and the surrounding area. Last year the clinic saw over 7,000 people one week!
This year we are starting a few new projects at the clinic. First, we are beginning health education initiatives to educate the community about ways they can improve and maintain health. High blood pressure is very common in Uganda, people as young as 18 are suffering from hypertension, which will be an area of education focus.
Second, we are implementing a barcoding system to track medication and supply usage at the clinic to make the clinic as efficent and cost effective as possible.
Third, I am organizing a children's program for kids who live in orphan homes run by our partner church. These kids live on the church property behind the surgery center. I hope to bring new teaching techniques and activities for the kids and house moms, further implementing sustainable community engagement programs.
Finally, I am going to begin community based researched in Bombo to holistically understand the health and needs of the people over time.
These new things are so exciting and also take some work! A few of us will be going a week before the clinic to start all the new projects.
God immensely blessed the clinic last year in providing volunteers and resources so we could provide medical care for the sick. We do not forget the importance of praying with those at the clinic and telling them of God's grace and love. This isn't just about bodily care, but spiritual care, as all people have a right to live the fullest expression of life.
Financially, anything will help! I am taking off almost three weeks of work to serve in Bombo and returning to jump right into grad school at USC, so I am prayerfully seeking support of friends and family. PRAYERS and support would be a huge blessings as I embark on this adventure to provide care and love to the people of Bombo.
