HOBY Wisconsin 2017 Fundraising

HOBY's mission is to provide lifelong leadership development opportunities that empower individuals to achieve their highest potential. HOBY's vision is to motivate and empower individuals to make a positive difference within our global society through understanding and action based on effective and compassionate leadership.

In 1958, actor Hugh O'Brian set out to help young people become positive catalysts for change - in the home, school, workplace and community. Hugh O'Brian Youth Leadership (HOBY) Ambassadors are sophomores selected to represent their high school at their local state seminar because they have demonstrated the potential to lead others.

HOBY programs provide Ambassadors an opportunity to participate in unique leadership training, service-learning and motivation-building experiences. HOBY strives to teach students how to think, not what to think. During the seminar, Ambassadors hear panel discussions on topics such as service leadership and diversity. Ambassadors will discover and sharpen leadership skills. Intensive leadership exercises and activities challenge Ambassadors to find new skills in communication and teamwork.

Students will participate in a community service project to learn first-hand the impact of giving back. Volunteerism is the heart and soul of our organization. We promote and encourage service. HOBY recognizes and values the positive accomplishments that volunteers can achieve by working together.

Ambassadors depart the seminar valuing their opinions and ideas, possessing the courage to express those opinions among peers and excited to share their experience at school and in their communities to make a difference for others. While a considerable effect of a student attending a HOBY seminar is intangible, HOBY tracks the volunteer projects our alumni participate in and log for Leadership for Service (L4S).

Attending a HOBY seminar is a great chance for students to stand out and be outstanding; to show others who they are and what they can do. It's an open door to lifelong leadership and service opportunities.

HOBY seminars are planned by people who believe in our youth's ability to be leaders and affect the future for all of us. We value and embrace diversity. We seek out views that reflect all walks of life and reflect those views in our program. We are sensitive to the special needs and diverse backgrounds of individuals. We give all individuals an equal opportunity to be heard and to benefit from our programs.

WisconsinHOBY relies on the generous donations of local businesses, service organizations and individuals to make each outstanding seminar happen.

Your donation is tax-deductible and appreciated . . . thank you for investing in Wisconsins' future leaders!
