Little Brookes prosthetic Limbs
Donation protected
Brooke is a fun, loving, energetic determined little 8 year old who was born with a rare condition Oromandibular limbhypogenesis syndrome. At birth Brooke was born with a missing left hand and deformed left foot amongst other various issues.
At the age of 4 the decision was made to amputate Brookes left leg for prosthesis attachment as this would apparently give her the best quality of life..... the procedure went well and Brooke adapted quickly to her new challenge.... but unfortunately the local artificial limb and appliance centre have failed Brooke on multiple occasions. After losing all faith in the centre complaints were made an we were assured things would change a leg was posted to Brooke shortly before christmas 2016, ill fitting and unsuitable. This was the final straw. Having had a second opinion from another centre in England I've spent the last 6 months fighting for funding to be moved to ensure Brooke receives the care she's entitled too.
The prosthetic leg she was issued is in complete disrepair and she's been advised against using this leg, which now means she's immobile and unhappy.
Today I've been told that funding will not be moved and care must resume in a centre that has failed Brooke on so many occasions.
As a parent we all want what's best for our children and I won't give up fighting for Brooke to live the life she wants.
We are looking for help with funding private prosthetics or a 3d printer and are looking at all avenues so any information or advice is also greatly appreciated.
Brooke loves being active in all aspects of life any help to make this possible would change her life
Thankyou
