MIDLETON RFC FLOOD DAMAGE REPAIR FUND
Midleton Rugby Football Club (Established 1967) is located in East Cork, Ireland. Our club caters for players from u6 to Senior Level and has recently started Women’s Rugby at all age grades. We field three senior sides, four youth sides and over 200 mini-rugby players aged from 5 - 12 years of age. Our pitches and facilities are used by several local clubs, groups and organisations.
At the close of 2015, Ireland was ravaged by Storm Frank and Midleton was one of Ireland’s worst affected areas. Despite all our stalwart efforts to combat the flood waters, the club was severely flooded on New Year’s Day. Our mini training area, second pitch and carpark flooded completely to a depth of several feet. Our equipment and machinery sheds were also breached destroying their contents. Our main pitch was substantially flooded and the clubhouse was underwater to a depth of several inches.
To be honest we’re still counting the cost of the flood but as it stands we need to replace damaged equipment and machinery, pump out the pitches, repair damaged fencing and carry out any structural repairs necessary to the club house.
We’re reaching out to our supporters, friends and the wider rugby community to please help us out with the cost of putting all this loss and damage to right. No donation is too small and anything you may be able to spare is greatly appreciated. We need to get our teams training and competitive again, we need to get our kids out playing and learning the wonderful game we love and we want to regain our place as a vital and vibrant element in our community.
