Need to buy Oxygen Concentrator
Donation protected
Yvette is our much beloved live in Manager of Turtle Gardens Animal Rescue up in Topley, BC
This is Yvette's story:
On February 25th I was hospitalized for 3 weeks and finally diagnosed. My shortness of breath was Pulmonary Fibrosis due to birds!! I have bird keepers lungs. My disease spun out of control for a year until I started going to Vancouver and Dr Khalil at the Lung Centre got it under control. By then my damaged lungs could no longer oxygenate my blood so enter Air Bud. I have been on full time oxygen since June 2nd of 2010. Does it slow me down "“ Yes it does. Have I stopped moving and doing things "“ NO. I still look after the dogs very well though I curse at the 25 foot tubing that gets in the way all the time. I have to keep one hand to hold the tubing to maneuver around the obstacles ie the table, my rocking chair, door ways etc. If I use both hands say to carry a bag of dog food "“ it drags behind me and REALLY gets me in trouble. I fall, the machine falls and holy moly what a debacle! But the dogs keep me motivated to get up and move. And that keep me alive. I just wish there was an easier way to do my chores. If only there was a small portable concentrator that weighed a scant 8 pounds with two batteries that I could strap to my back. And be free of the tether that makes my life so much more difficult than it needs to be.
As part of the volunteer group for Turtle Gardens Animal Rescue Organization, I'm trying to get together the much needed funds to buy Yvette her portable Concentrator so that she is free and able to easily run her shelter.
