Firefighter Grovenor

Hello, everyone. I am creating this for one of my best friends, Tyler Grovenor. He is a Fire Fighter for the Cape Girardeau Fire Department located in Cape Girardeau, MO. He has served the Department for just under 4 years.

As a first responder, we know the possibilities we could face while on duty. One of those being responding to a call where you may know someone, or even worse, responding to your own home. Unfortunately, that happened to one of my dearest friends.  

On Monday, November 16, 2015, at approximately 8:15 PM, Cape Girardeau Fire Department received a call for a house fire at Fire Fighter Grovenor's residence. The dispatcher stated there was a possible entrapment of his grandfather, Zeno Blattel. Tyler's fire truck was the second truck to arrive on scene. By the amount of smoke pouring out of his house, he knew that if his grandfather wasn't already out, the chances of him surviving were slim. Sadly, Tyler and his fellow firefighters were unable to save his grandfather, as he perished in the fire. Tyler was able to knock down the basement door and locate his two dogs, Rosko and Sammy, lying on the floor nearly lifeless. Tyler was able to get the dogs out of the house and give them oxygen masks.

As a result of the fire, the house is a complete loss and is not salvageable. Tyler lost nearly all of his belongings- his clothes, bed, personal items- just to name a few.

His brother, Todd, lost a few personal items as well.

I never imagined I would ever have to create a GoFundMe, but I could not think of a better cause to create my first. Tyler would never ask for help or donations, but I will for him. He's been such a wonderful friend to me and this is the least I can do for him!

Please keep Tyler, his mother, Teresa (Zeno's Daughter), Trey and Todd Grovenor, and the rest of the Blattel and Grovenor family in your thoughts and prayers. They are in desperate need of love and support!!
