Help Trout the Dog

Trout was found abandoned on a trout farm in Missouri as a wee puppy. She came to Minnesota to find a home through Secondhand Hounds, and ended up staying with me.

Since she was a puppy, Trout has had ongoing urinary issues. In the last year, her symptoms have expanded to include issues with her GI tract as well. She's been seen by a handful of vets and is currently under the care of Dr. Shadwick at the Animal Emergency and Referral Center of MN, but tests continue to be inconclusive. Meanwhile, Trout has good and bad days, so keeping her happy and comfortable is our primary goal. More about Trout's medical care can be found on my blog.

While Trout's expenses haven't been as high as anticipated yet due to the kindness of Dr. Polly Lewis at Carriage House Animal Hospital, Dr. Kate An Hunter at Carver Lake Veterinary Hospital, and Dr. Shadwick at the AERC, who have all done their best to make veterinary care as affordable as possible, the expenses are still significant. While I was originally anticipating that her bills would push 25% of my yearly income, they're currently half that. That said, 13% is still a significant portion of money as I often live month-to-month.

I feel a bit weird accepting donations, but Dobby’s costs last year depleted my savings account to such an extent that I’m incredibly grateful for your offers to help. I’m always amazed at what a supportive, caring community the dog world is. It’s a wonderful, warm feeling to know that people all over the world are pulling for my little white dog. Thank you!
