Arm The Girls is a Bay Area mutual aid initiative putting power and safety directly into the hands of black and indigenous queer and trans femmes of color.
This community lead initiative will equip bipoc queer & trans femmes with emergency funding support, holistic health and wellness resources, paid self defense classes, and self defense kits in a designer bag.
The compounding discrimination and violence that come with the experience of intersectional identities, especially for black and brown trans women, has been exacerbated by the covid-19 epidemic. 2020 has been the most fatally violent year for Black and Brown Trans & Gender Non-Conforming people. 41 deaths have been reported so far. This number is believed to be even higher, because many stories go unreported or misreported.
Queer & Transphobia, along with Capitalism, Misogyny and Racism are part of the white supremacist legacy of colonialism. One of the proven ways that we can fight back, is thru helping each other building strong systems of Mutual Aid; connecting to reclaim and radicalize resources lost to poverty and sociocultural marginalization, putting power and safety directly into the hands of those who need it most.
We are tired of deaths. We are tired of the violence.
We are working together to change the narrative.
We can not put hope in a system that was built to destroy us.
We can not wait to be saved by leaders who dont give a shit about us.
We are all we got. We are all we need.
We will keep us safe.
Our $19,999 goal will serve 50 BIPOC Trans Femmes in the Bay Area.

About the Beneficiaries:
Funds from this campaign are co-managed by We Are The Ones, VisibiliT, and Join The Movement Coalition. Joshua Davis (Guerrilla, @shotbyguerrilla), a founding member of We Are The Ones, will oversee the withdrawal of funds into their personal checking account, and will distribute funds with campaign organizers to purchase self defense items and provide direct mutual aid support to applicants who need emergency assistance.
