Hello Friends!
Its been a long time coming...
Many of you know that from the moment I discovered Folk Music, in particular Irish music, I threw myself into the art and history of these long traditions unreservedly and completely - interviewing and learning from heroes and mentors, travelling in search of roots, learning to listen in new ways. And, I have spent these years absorbing both the tradition and stories, as well as rediscovering and refining my own voice within these traditions. I am so excited to finally share with all of you, the product of this journey.
This album is the collective result of my years in exploration as an artist, academic and most importantly, human being. It is the sharing of songs that speak to me both from the tradition and from artists living the legacy. It is also an introduction to my own works as additions to this lineage of storytelling through song. I look forward to being joined by musicians and friends I have met in my journies and am inspired by, including some of Irish musics greatest legends. I am particularly honored to be including two musicians who have guided and mentored me in their own ways along this journey: Karan Casey, original vocalist of Irish supergroup Solas, and Mick Moloney, one of the greatest preservers of our time and a forefather to the commercial profession of Irish traditional music. I hope to be joined by other world-class artists and friends in this project, funds permitting.
This is a two-part project, as I hope to perform more concerts to help raise funds and awareness for the project more prolifically. To do this, I find it necessary to cut a proper five-song demo, both to share with concert promoters and offer to my audience. The demo would be a way to provide a sample my work, excite new audiences about my work and give you all a teaser of what is to come. But all of this can only be made possible with your help.
I very fortunately find myself in one of the greatest cities on earth, attending the best Irish and Irish American Studies Master Program in the world at New York University. But this also means that my funds are commited entirely to academics and the cost of living in this great city. The cost of this project including studio time, production and mastering, artist fees, album art, copyright and distribution are necessary costs in sharing this work of art. Please, consider helping in any way you can. Various levels of partnership are paired with gifts of gratitude. But every single offering means the world to me and am so thankful for the generosity!
I appreciate all the support I have received over the years from friends, family and fans, and I so look forward to continuing and growing in the partnership through this album and bringing you the gift of my journies.
