Bernie Delegate: Amanda Mcillmurray

My name is Amanda Mcillmurray and I have been elected as a delegate for Bernie Sanders for the 1st Congressional District of Pennsylvania.
As many of you reading this may know, I have been organizing for Bernie since last June- originally as a full time volunteer (in addition to my full time job managing a law firm in Philadelphia), then as a paid and dedicated staffer, then again as a full time volunteer. I have organized events, facilitated outreach, done voter registration drives and personally spoken to more voters than I could possibly count- all in the name of helping foster a society that is equitable for each and every human being, not just a select few.
Now why am I creating this GoFundMe? The cost of attending the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia is astronomical. The campaign has required that all delegates (even residents of Philadelphia) stay in the hotels that have been assigned by the DNC because:
-credentials for delegates are handed out every morning at 6am in the assigned hotel,
-caucusing for delegates starts early in the morning and ends late at night, dependent upon how contentious the caucus is, and
-the security for the Convention will be on par with the security we experienced last year with the Pope's visit (several layers, stretching out miles, FBI/Secret Service checkpoints, lengthy wait times, etc)
Thus, leaving to go home and returning to the hotel daily will be too time intensive and sporadic, resulting in no sleep and potentially missing out on the issuance of credentials. The campaign has stated that we cannot afford to lose a single delegate on any given day so it's essential for us to stay at the delegation's assigned hotel.
Even if Bernie is not our next president, we need to ensure we go into the Convention with as many committed, passionate delegates as possible so we can push for progressive, dare I hope for radical?, change. We must ensure that each and every one of our voices are heard. We must hold the establishment, corporate elite and party leaders accountable. We must make this country an equitable one where the color of your skin, your genitalia, your gender expression, your economic status, your place of birth or your religion no longer hinder your desired path in life.

P.S. anything I raise over the cost of the expense of the DNC will be donated to other Bernie delegates to help fund anyone who may experience a shortfall.
