Book Translation

My name is Ioannis Fidanakis. I am Greek-American Activist, and supporter of a movement called “Operation Antioch”. The purpose of OA is to preserve and promote the ethnic identity of Levantine Rûm. Recently, I was made aware of a book written by a historian named Paul Carolides (Παύλος Καρολίδης). The book is entitled “The Origin of the Orthodox Christians of Syria and Palestina” (ΠΕΡΙ ΤΗΣ ΕΘΝΙΚΗΣ ΚΑΤΑΓΩΓΗΣ ΤΩΝ ΟΡΘΟΔΟΞΩΝ ΧΡΙΣΤΙΑΝΩΝ ΣΥΡΙΑΣ ΚΑΙ ΠΑΛΑΙΣΤΙΝΗΣ). It was published in Katharevousa Greek in 1909.

This is the only known academically written book on the Greek origins of the Levantine Rûm. As such it is the best known historical look at the origins of Levantine Rûm, written before the rise of Arab Nationalism. Unfortunately, it is written in Katharevousa Greek, and unable to be read as there are no known English or Modern Greek translation of it available. It is my hope that this fundraiser will raise the necessary funds needed to translate this book from Katharevousa to English. So that it can be released for free, and eventually also translated into Arabic. After contacting several different people. I’ve taken the best price available for translating this 214 page academic book. Please help me unlock this priceless piece of historical evidence.
