BITSS 2018-19

“I want to prove to myself and other little girls that regardless of any obstacles life throws our way, if we persevere we can reach our goals. It is up to us to turn our obstacles into stepping stones.” ~ BITSS attendee

The Boston International Turner Syndrome Summit (BITSS) is an eight-day summer program in Boston, Massachusetts, for young women aged 12-19 with Turner syndrome. BITSS is dedicated to giving teens with Turner syndrome the opportunity to meet others from around the globe facing the same challenges in order to build a strong, confident community together. TS is rare (occurring in 1 in 2,500 women), so girls growing up with it often feel isolated. Our program is designed to give our participants the opportunity to come together and learn, grow, and enjoy themselves and each other.

We had a blast at our 2018 summit! We explored Boston, danced, sang karaoke, learned American Sign Language . . . all that and more. But we want BITSS to be accessible to everyone with TS, regardless of background. Turner syndrome impacts people of all backgrounds, and we want to make sure BITSS is accessible to everyone regardless of financial hardship.

Your tax-deductible donation will go straight into our scholarship fund, where it will help us provide our life-changing experience to girls who would otherwise be unable to come.

A Personal Message From Our Treasurer

My name is Elizabeth Wheeler, and I am the treasurer on BITSS's Board of Directors. I want young women to have an opportunity that I never had as a teen: to meet others with TS. I want our attendees to realize that they are far from alone.

We are looking for funds to send teenagers with TS to our week-long summer program who, due to family finances, would not otherwise be able to go. The money would be used to pay for their travel costs, dormitory, and food. We need the funds as soon as possible so we can offer families financial aid for our 2019 summit. We also hope to add professional educators to our staff to make BITSS a complete success!

On behalf of the BITSS Board of Directors and staff, THANK YOU!
