BUBC's 'Row - vember' 48 hour Row
Bournemouth University Boat Club is going to attempt to set the British record for the furthest distance rowed continuously by a team in 48 hours on a Concept 2 indoor rower.
The Club is now in its 20th year, and already it's shaping up to be a big one. We've had a huge fresher intake this year, fuelled by Team GB's success at the London 2012 Olympic & Paralympic Games. The season has started well, with two wins at UBBC Head recently including the women's novice division and some high placings in other divisions as well.
The number of members now stands at over 100, the early wins show how committed everyone is to training but the club's potential success is limited by the amount and quality of equipment that we have. Our fleet of boats can only seat 24 rowers and 4 coxes currently as our fresher eight needs replacing as soon as possible due to not being water tight! On top of that we need to buy more cox boxes, pay for oar maintenance and cover training camp costs for our volunteer coaches... And so on!
To help raise money for this equipment, the club is going to be rowing 48 hours non-stop on a rowing machine in university from midday on November 28th to midday on November 30th, and needs your help to make it worthwhile! We are working in partnership with rowing machine manufacturers Concept 2 to try and set a British record, and will be pushing hard to make every second count! Each member will be rowing one or two half hour slots, and every pound of sponsorship will make those 4am slots a little more bearable, so please be generous!
Any amount of sponsorship will be greatly appreciated and will go towards essential equipment and costs.
Thank you from BUBC past, present & future
