Start a Community Toolshed

Doação protegida
In-line with my community projects, I've decided to start another which I believe the public will find more beneficial to their selves. As the title suggests, I'm trying to start a community tool shed which will supply tools not easily obtained when they're needed, but will be free for use and even freely used for those who need the work done but can't afford to pay for the tools or labor.

I'm starting this project off with one simple tool in the shed -- a lawn mower. This is the season for mowing lawns and many of the elderly around my community can't afford to be paying to have it done and can't do it their selves. As a result, their grass gets too tall and the city pounces on them with fines which they can't afford to pay.
I've managed to acquire a battery-powered lawn mower which requires 4x 12v batteries to run ($150 and lasts for 10 years). This will remove the need for costly fuel and oil while making it readily available to those who need it. On top of that, holding the start key and charger makes it less likely to be stolen in the middle of the night.

As the project progresses, I hope to add more tools to the tool shed including chain saws, wood splitters, snow blowers, various saws, etc. along with security measures to ensure that the tools stay the communities and are not taken and sold by would-be thieves.
I know the idea of community has been lost with the digital age, but the same people who need a helping hand every now and then are still there whether or not we want to see them. I've just taken a really good look a few times; won't you?
