Hello!

We are the Sweets and we are trying to raise money to participate and donate to the American Diabetes Association's "Tour de Cure". The Tour de Cure is a bike ride in June to raise money that will assist in funding research, advocacy, and support programs for a disease that affects so many people, diabetes.

There are currently 30 million Americans living with diabetes and nearly three times that with pre-diabetes. Unfortunately, such a common disease does not mean it is without chronic consequences. We know that nearly everyone knows someone who is affected by diabetes or will know someone who is affected sometime in their life. This is why we want to work our tails off training to do the ride in order to raise as much money as possible to go towards diabetes support.

This  ride especially means a great deal to David who lost his father this past year to a long fight against severe diabetes. Each mile pedaled on this ride will be in memory of him...and did we mention it is 100 miles?

That's right, we amateurs are going to train long and hard in order to  reach that crazy mileage. Because the distance will be so physically demanding, we will need to upgrade from our current bikes to ones that are better equipped to handle longer distances. These bikes are capable of moving faster and are less damaging on the body over time. We are planning on doing many charity rides in the upcoming years and these bicycles will allow us to put many many miles in for good causes**. As such, a portion of the funds raised here will supplement this investment.

HOWEVER, the vast majority of the money raised during this campaign will go directly to our fundraising goals to support the American Diabetes Association. Our dream is to be "Champions to Stop Diabetes", which entails each raising $1000 to donate. Even if we don't make this goal, we will be eternally grateful for any contributions that allow us to participate in this ride.

We want you to be a part of our training journey via social media! Even in our brief training expeditions thus far, Lauren has made a habit of stopping every mile or so to document the scenery on our rides ;) Because of this, you all will have PLENTY of pictures and videos to watch  :) We hope that you will all be able to see our growth and progress, share in the laughs (and sweat) along the way, and truly feel like you are on the ride with us. You can follow our journey using the hashtag: #DiaSweeties

And even if you can't donate directly to our GoFundMe, it would be a huge help even just sharing this page over social media :)

Any and all money that is raised that is over our goal will go to our fundraising efforts for other charity rides! :D

**Other rides we hope to complete in the future:
             -     PanOhio Hope Ride (American Cancer Society)
             -     VeloSano (Cleveland Clinic, cancer)
             -     Cycle for Life (Cystic Fibrosis Foundation)
             -     Buckeye Breakaway (National MS Society)
             -     Rev-it-up for Parkinson's (UC Neuroscience                           Institute)

We know we are asking a lot out of everyone. To show our appreciation, we are offering a few donation rewards! We want to bring a little enjoyment and entertainment to you all as we raise money for this great cause together.
