Dignity Matters

Donation protected
As of 12-31-13 there were 7,677 children in the Massachusetts foster care system.  It is typical that once a child enters DCF custody they move with-in the system.  They change foster homes to find a family that better meets their needs or they transition to a lower level of care (from a residential program to foster care).

Working in this field for many years, we have seen first hand the effects that these transitions have on the kids.
Not only are these kids scared, alone, abused, confused, sad and just hurt but they now need to quickly pack up all of their belongings. There is nothing more upsetting then seeing a child going to foster care or a residential program with their belongings in a trash bag. As if this process is not already hard enough but now they are being degraded by everyone seeing their personal belongings shoved into trash bags.

Like everywhere the budgets are tight and unfortunately this issue is not a top priority. We are hoping to reach out, raise funds and spread the awareness that an action as small as donating or purchasing a bag for a child in care can truly go a long way. If you could please help us in any way! Thank you for taking the time to read this!

1 laundry bag can cost less than $5/bag if purchased in bulk!

The bags purchased through the funds raised on this GoFundMe account will be donated to local programs that work directly with the children that are placed out of the Worcester County DCF Area Offices.
