Friends House Hospitality Workers

Donation protected
We need your support to fight for our jobs back. The three of us - hospitality workers at Friends House employed on zero-hour contracts - lost our jobs in November when senior managers 'solved' the issue of zero-hour contracts by getting rid of the three remaining workers employed on them.

Two of us were elected Unite the Union workplace representatives, and a third is a Quaker. One worker had been subject to intimidatory disciplinary processes; we all feel we’ve been targeted for being principled and outspoken at work; and our mental and physical health has suffered. We also feel that we were picked out as easy targets because of who we are: all of us are young, two of us are women, and we all have pre-existing health issues.

Friends House management's current intransigent attitude of denial and indifference suggests that this will be a long campaign which places heavy burdens on us and our union, the IWW.

We have been struggling to find work since, but need to make rent and pay for food and travel; meanwhile the IWW is a grassroots, DIY union without paid staff or large organising budgets.  Your financial support towards the organising, materials and expensive legal advice that will be necessary for victory will help us succeed in getting justice.
