Candi's Cancer Medical Fund
February 2014,
Candi Sue Leffel was diagnosed with Stage 4 Breast Cancer.
Candi has been getting the best results from her breast cancer treatments, and so far, it seems to be in remission.
She has maintained her full-time position at Goodwill and continues to improve, although the 8 hour work day is taking its toll on her feet and she is constantly exhausted.
She has a had a hard time getting her weight up to where she wants it to be, but her spirit is great.
Her hair is starting to come back too!
Any donation for her medical costs would be truly appreciated.
March 28th 2017-
Candi has had another Gamma Knife operation at Jewish Hospital in Cincinnati.
4 new tumors and a recurring one.
-Update-
12 new tumors, many small ones. Hopefully they got them all.
April 27th 2017-
These weeks since the Gamma Knife have been very hard for Candi.
A lot of pain for her and a loss of balance, she is needing a walker to walk.
She is feeling better these last couple of days and trying to stay positive about leaving her job as Assistant Manager at Urbana's Goodwill store and going on disability and Social Security.
She has been through so much these last 3 years.
Whole Brain Radiation,
then a Gamma Knife operation at Jewish Hospital,
Chemo for Stage 4 Breast Cancer,
a Simple Mastectomy,
now this Gamma Knife operation again.
Probably another Simple Mastectomy to prevent any spread of Breast Cancer.
She is also facing Chemo Pills or Chemo again for Lung Nodules.
May 16th 2017
Candi has been bedridden for the last few weeks now and she can't walk at all now.
Not really sure why, might be from the 2nd Gamma Knife Operation or the pain pills numbing her, but she is in a lot of pain.
Also, she had been constipated for over 2 weeks , and an enima barely worked.
Blockage again for over 5 days and trying the enima again.
I've been taking care of her the best I can, but it's really tough since I pinched a nerve in my back a few weeks ago and now my right arm is weak and numb.
I can't lift her to get her in the tub and I can't sleep from the pain in my shoulder and arm.
I'm running on empty.
I wouldn't wish this hell on anybody.
Candi needs positive thoughts her way.
May 24th 2017
Candi's lung nodules have grown and the current meds aren't working.
Cancer has spread to her Liver...
They're going to try another medicine.
Doctor Khanna said it's basically up to GOD now.
Candi and I are now Mr. & Mrs. Helfrich.
Finally tied the knot yesterday, June 2nd 2017!
JULY 2ND 2017
Candi passed away Sunday afternoon after an almost 4 year fight against Cancer.
We are now facing a financial situation with the Funeral Arrangements as her daughter, and her son and I don't have the finances for what the Funeral Home and the Cemetery people need to proceed.
If Candi let her Life Insurance lapse, as might be the case. There is no insurance,
July 5th Candi's 50th Birthday
July 6th 2017
We have found out that Candi's Life Insurance did Lapse in June.
Paid up through May and after paying UNUM Insurance for years through her employer Goodwill Easter Seals Miami Valley Jobs.
Now no insurance...
They want cash up-front pretty much for everything at Vernons Funeral Home, which could be close to $7000 to $10,000.
Any funds could help.
July 8th 2017
Funeral costs have been taken care of and any further donations will be used for household and other expenses.
Thank you all so much for donating these last couple of years.
