Gary's ALS Support Fund

Thank you for visiting this page!

I remember the day that my best friend was diagnosed with ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease) just like it was yesterday. The numbness, fear, and deep grief. Who'd have thought that the person to encourage and inspire me the most through it all would in fact be the very one diagnosed. Gary.

That's THE Gary so many other people have been blessed by. A guy that leads by example. A man who has un-wavering faith & character, solid integrity, and a passion for life. As a closest friend Gary has stood by me through thick and thin, and now it's my turn.

A testiment to Gary's ferocious tenacity--- he has kept ALS beat back for well over a decade now, which if you're aware of ALS, you know that's 3x above average. For those of you who know Gary, this doesn't surprise you. But, little by little it has weaseled its way along --- The daily things we all take for granted have become a struggle. Drifted away are the days we played softball together and played music together. Once, where there were aspirations of more adventures & bucket lists, there are now dreams of easing the ever growing battle of daily life.

That is what this endeavor is all about. Giving back to Gary. A man who has always been there for his children, has always been solid in his faith, & inspired myself and others to do the same. A man who has always put others first.

Along with the cost of upcoming medical bills and other quality of life items that will surely be substantial, the funds raised now will be going towards the renovation of Gary's home. Improving accessibility and function will help provide for he and his families needs. He and I have been planning this for more than a year, but now we have generated his plans, and he has already obtained the needed building permits.

I very much look forward to spending time with Gary working on his house and enjoying time with friends and family who are ready to get to work. It's going to be an amazing summer. I'll certainly be updating the progress along the way.

Thank you all so much for your contributions and also, a special thanks to all of you out there that took part in the Ice Bucket Challenge to raise awareness and funding for ALS research.

Kindest Regards,

Mike
