Help Candice Rebuild St. Thomas

We were anticipating a week of beautiful beaches, sailing, pool time and golf for our family and friends St. Thomas Vacation.  We have been visiting the island for years and have always loved our time there.  What we did not anticipate on this trip was a visit from Hurricane Irma.  Our vacation went from carefree to survival mode.   With the help of our property manager, Candice, and her amazing crew we prepared the home as Irma set her sights on St. Thomas.  We were fortunate that the home we had rented was designed for Cat 5 Hurricane strength.  We were the fortunate ones.  Sadly Candice, her family, friends and neighbors lost their entire homes and all their belongings to Irma’s fury.  In the midst of her loss she and her team showed up after the storm worried about us.  We saw photos from her team of remnants of what had been their family’s homes.  They never felt bad for themselves but were concerned about us and how to help us get off the island.  In the worst moments of their lives they showed kindness, compassion and the will to move forward. They said we are survivors and will find a way to move on.  Such a humbling experience.

A week after the storm we were on a rescue ship heading home to Florida, New York and California, but we could not get the images of the destruction out of our minds and the thought of leaving behind the wonderful people who helped us was heartbreaking.  Candice and her team are survivors and if anyone can begin to rebuild their community it is them.  Please help us give back by supporting our Go FUND ME page to help Candice, her family and team rebuild their lives on St. Thomas and bring back tourist to the island.  We plan to go back to support the US Virgin Islands soon.  I hope you will continue to keep The US Virgin Island and Puerto Rico in your thoughts and prayers.

**Update** Due to the internet and phone outages in St. Thomas, I will be sending Candice a check for the full amount of the donations collected. This is the most effective way to get Candice the donated money so that she can use it to spend on fuel to power the generators that supply them with power and running water and supplies to start the re-building process of her and her family's homes.
