For the elderly, and persons with disabilities, a personal touch can make a big difference in their quality of life. Each person’s situation is unique, and their level of need can vary, but in most government run facilities, patients become nothing more than a number in a file with a list of medications and treatments to administer and tick off. For those with friends and family who are up in age, or disabled and unable to care for themselves, that’s not the kind of place you want them to call home, whether temporarily or permanently.

My name is Tameka O'Neal, and I have spent over ten years working with the elderly in long term care, and persons with disabilities in a professional capacity. As a social worker, I saw how difficult it was for this demographic to get the quality of care and treatment that they deserved. It became my dream to provide assistance to as many of them as I could on a more personal level, and since then I have made great strides towards doing so. I am proud to say that I have almost reached the finish line, but this is where I need your help.

Guardian Lakes Assisted Living Facility is a project that I have been working on for several years that is almost at its completed stage. I have put all my savings into purchasing and renovating an assisted living facility that will provide excellent care for the elderly and disabled, and ensure that they have the highest quality of life possible for as long as they are in our care.
Presently, I am seeking to raise $50,000 worth of funding in order to assist with processing a standard Assisted Living Facility (ALF) application, mental health care license, extended congregate care license, limited mental health license, limited nursing services license, the health and fire inspection of the assisted living facility, and purchasing other miscellaneous items and equipment needed for care of the residents. I am also required to deposit $40,000 in the bank to prove that that Guardian Lakes can be run for a least one year, in order to get full clearance to begin operations.
I have invested every dollar I have into this venture, and all that is left is to humbly ask for help to cover the rest of these necessary expenses. I am so close to making this dream a reality, and every dollar donated would mean the world. I am unable to offer the sort of dazzling rewards I would like, but I believe the most important thing is to get as much of the funding I receive invested in Guardian Lakes.

To those who donate, thank you. Even if you are unable to donate at this time, a like or share on your social media would go such a long way. Please send the campaign link along to anyone who you think might be able to assist.
I hope you can help Guardian Lakes make that final step towards changing lives.
Thank you for taking the time to read this,

Overview of Guardian Lakes Assisted Living Facility

The facility will be a 16 bed facility offering , mental health, respite, alzheimer's, limited nursing services and extended congregate care.

Problem
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the number of individuals in the US between the ages of 65 and 84
will increase by 38.8 percent between 2010 and 2020, while the population over age 85 will increase by
18.7 %.18 This aging of the population will create a large area of unmet demand in the following decade
for Assisted Living Facilities (ALFs).
Solution
Guardian Lakes Assisted Living will offer the client safe, secure, high quality care at a state of the art facility
located in the city of Lakeland, Florida. The facility will be run by a family with more that 30 years
experience as professional care providers of secure, safe housing facility environments.
Market
There are currently large discrepancies in the demographic makeup of retirement communities. As of
2006, retirement communities were 69% female and only 31% male. The typical resident for an ALF is an
85 year old female. Individuals over 85 years old make up the largest percentage of residents at ALFs.
The highest concentration of ALFs is in the Southeast portion of the U.S., which houses 23% of all ALFs in the
nation. The trend of retirees moving to the Sunbelt region of the U.S. is expected to spur further growth for
this industry in this region.
