Hello, WELCOME to our GoFundMe Site :)

>> VTpoverty :: The Harbor Place Stories Project by Adrienne G

Aside from raising Worldwide awareness of Human Cruelty by the hands of the very people that profess they are *helping* the impoverished at Harbor Place, the Shelter Hotel in Shelburne Vermont.. We are trying to raise funds for Legal Fees and Printing Costs for the Harbor Place Stories Project.

Our Precious & Costly Belongings were maliciously withheld/taken from us by then Supervisor Kim Thevenet & by Safehome Advocate Megan Foster of "Women Helping Battered Women" (WHBW), a United Way affiliated Domestic Violence *help* Agency in Burlington Vermont. Last summer, they since *simply* changed their name aftr 30yrs! They are now called Steps to End Domestic Violence...

The so-called "advocate" who took our things, the woman who actually lied to my face & tricked us due to jealousy and cowardliness to contact me (so she would not lose her job)..this woman, Megan Foster STILL works there -- and no one  reached out or made compensation for this huge malicious & careless act of unprofessionalism. Her supervisor, since moved away and unbelievably, Megan was put in her place at STEPS with a new title! She was promoted! The Director of the agency, also to be held accountable, is still the Director of Steps to End Domestic Violence in Burlington Vermont.

No Chittenden County news agency took my story to do their job to inform the public in a nonbiased fashion, as they are supposed to do. They adore the hotel owners and the 30+ years in business "helping people" agency and had to protect them.

Unbelievable.

My original GoFundMe Story is as follows:
(I don't plan on changing it or editing because I wrote it first draft from the heart when reluctantly signing up - as so many do for their sites)

>> We have lost thousands of dollars in material goods we could never really replace due to our circumstances...we still need & think of all the treasures of needed goods and beloved items every single day.

We have been severely wronged..the emotional impact of this trickery & harm from the very Agency that is/was designed to help people (women with children) alone is unthinkable. Already suffering PTSD, poverty and already victims of Domestic Abuse for yrs, struggling to pay the roof overhead at the hotel and so the mere $90 month for a local storage unit was out at the time...

No one wants to be victimized, no one wants to lose their smartphone, wallet, purse, jacket on a bus etc... No one wants to come home to an empty closet, kitchen & home having been robbed! ..We needlessly lost an entire van load of our worldly & costly goods..things so needed to live, brand new items for our apartment & tons of new clothes with the tags still on...14 large trash bags and five boxes of pantry food..plus a tote bag full of more of our precious books...

This was a malicious act of negligence and cruelty by this one staff person, the Shelter Coordinator, making the judgment call to deliberately harm us in this fashion..(because I had complained to officials about the Human Rights & Civil Rights violations going on for months at Harbor Place, a low-income hotel that they call a "shelter" where you have to pay to stay at for the most part)...

Utter unprofessionalism, cruelty & disrespect for a struggling Mom & 10yr old Child, the Supervising Coordinator nor our so-called *SafeHome* Advocate (who we had trusted & "worked with" for 7months..who had lied to us and tricked us) never contacted us to give us the chance to remove the stuff prior to them donating it away..They both just ignored my phone calls, voicemail messages AND emails! ... And when I finally contacted the Agency Director in July of last yr to find out why/how my repeated calls & emails were IGNORED: she wrote back denying us of all future service! She never, ever mentions the belongings either...

It is all truly unbelievable. Staff &/or Volunteers had to go to the garage where other struggling mom's also stored stuff..and they actually sorted the bags with our names on it in order to donate it all away!! All the while with no intention of contacting us to see if we -or friends or hired movers - could come take the stuff!

We lost everything we had just rebuilt after moving to VT to start over...thousands of dollars in costly & prized possessions.. An apartments worth of brand new items..kitchen, blankets, pillows, outerwear, sweaters, skiwear, shoes, boots never used and lightly used!! Our BOOKS. Our legal documents! IDs & Social Security Cards, Birth Certificates, Library Cards... Eyeglasses...Medical Paperwork...Electronic devices, Two beloved Cameras with thousands of photos on the SD Cards spanning yrs of our lives...photos, papers, notes IRREPLACEABLE. (a complete list of all items has been made for the police) All because we needed help to store it, could not carry it all to hotels... This is an unbelievable criminal act...filing complaints will not regain our beloved items... The material loss is so great to withstand..providing sorrow and disbelief every single day. Still cannot believe it happened to us. Why and how? What baffling cruelty :(
