Please Help Aka

This is Aka, he is a two year old Pomeranian. My son is very friendly, loving, and loyal. Although he is young, he has been through a lot already. I adopted Aka in March, he came from a home that would abuse and neglect him. He was very frail, fragile; he only had skin and bones and clumps of dandruff everywhere. When I brought him home, any fast movements would make him scream. I couldn't carry him as it caused him discomfort and anxiety to be close to someone. When I attempted to hug him, he'd yelp like he was hurt as if he thought I was going to crush him. It took him a while to get used to his new life without abuse. As the weeks went by, his whole demeanor changed. He went from a very scared, shy sad little boy to this vibrant, spunky bundle of joy. He knows that I would never hurt him and he knows what its like to be loved.

I love him dearly and it hurts me deeply that as his mother, I am unable to support him financially to get the care he needs. Aka, was hit by a car, the impact broke his little femur in two. He bears no weight on his leg, making him very unstable. Prior to his accident, Aka was very active and loves the outdoors, he's the dog version of the enegizer bunny. Some of his favorite pastimes are running (he is extremely fast) and hiking. It is very heartwrenching to see him in pain and attempt to put on a brave face to try to walk without yelping from the pain or falling down. A simple surgery which would place rods and pins in his femur would fix his leg indefinitely. His vet tells us that his prognosis is very good since Aka is so young and his femur is in two pieces instead of a hundred little pieces.

Unfortunately, my budget is very limited and I have maxed out all possible funds just taking him to the vet to get x-rays and pain medicine. He is on a pain patch which distributes the medicine through out the day. Aka is truly a trooper, he is very brave and has so much more to experience in his journey through life. I cannot express how thankful I am that I have him in my life. He has made me feel better when I wasn't feeling too great and now its my turn to try everything I can to get him better. I learned about gofundme from Aka's vet and I am asking the community to please help me raise funds for Aka's much needed surgery.
