Kay Bingaman was intubated for the "highest levels of CO2 [her doctor] had ever seen in a non terminal patient."
She spent almost a week in the ICU, and another half week on "the floor." Unfortunately, the descrepency in care between those two areas lead her to being discharged home before all her equipment that keeps her out of the hospital had been serviced becasue the doctor felt she was under-control.
And once she was out of critical care, all accounting for her thyroid cancer and other chronic ailments halted almost immediately. Because, the CO2 build-up is just one symptom of one illness. The radiation and surgery didn't work on her Thyroid cancer and we're gonna have to go back to round two as soon as possible.
The next step is in-patient rehab. But, before we can get there we have to survive in the meantime as well. This is a fundraiser for expenses incurred during her long and ongoing hospital stay and to cover whatever insurance won't so she can get back to her normal with the help of intensive respiratory and physical therapy.
She was supposed to head to rehab straight from the hospital, but her doctor released her early. She's weak and more reliant on care than ever before. Plus, we're on the verge of eviction thanks to the drain these kinds of situations can put on a family unit.
