As most all of you know Johnny was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes at age 8. With this horrible disease it brings some very hard struggles. While keeping it under control has been a true test we now seem to have a better handle on all of it than ever before. He has been on a pump for almost 2 years and has recently started on a new sensor that is constantly checking his blood. Yes, this has been a very long and expensive process but it has gotten better and we couldn’t be happier. One thing that we cannot be so happy about is the damage that his horrific disease has cause on his body. He has Diabetic Neuropathy in his legs which cause numbness and pain from time to time. He has also suffered from hemorrhaging in his eyes. Since diabetes damages the nerves in your body we have also been struggling to expand our family. This has caused so much stress, heartache, sadness, and many other emotions and feelings with the both of us. It’s so hard to explain to Nevaeh that we are having troubles giving her a sibling because that is all she wants right now. Though Nevaeh has brought so much joy into Jessica’s life she doesn’t know what it is like to have a child of her own and to go through all of the exciting times of being pregnant and welcoming something she created into this world. We started visiting fertility clinics in 2012 and have got the run around over and over. We met with the doctor and determined it would probably cost us around $10,000.00 to perform what they call IUI. So taking that dollar amount in we slowly started the process. Over the last year we have completed a lot of the diagnostic steps and have already put about $6,000.00 into this process. So going off the original total of 10k we thought we were almost there and would be pregnant by the end of the year. We met with the doctor mid-August and were told a whole different story. They found some things on ultra sounds and testing between the two of us and came to the conclusion that we will have to now perform IVF. This is a lot more in detail of a process then the IUI procedure they had spoken about. At this point we were both a little irritated and upset because again the future of us having a child seems even farther away. The cost involved in doing IVF is around $20,000.00. Though we have already invested $6k into the process, we still have a long way to go to come close the $20k that it’s going to cost. We both don’t like to ask for help but at this point we have no other choice. So I am asking that if you would please do anything in your power to help us be able to get pregnant. We both would be so grateful of anything you can offer.
