I was shot twice Wednesday February 25 2015 in Paoli , Indiana on the job where I was office manager of Classic Muscle Car and Parts.
The shooter was a co employee named Michael Dale Kilpatrick, He was stealing from the shop so he was fired.
He loaded a bunch of stuff and I guess he was trying to leave before anyone else arrived at work that morning & I happened to arrive a little early I parked the tow truck I had been driving by the exit to avoid getting hung up. He then came driving up the hill which is also covered in snow & because of where the tow truck was he lost momentum and got his truck & car trailer hung up on the hill.
First he approached me as I was exiting the tow truck to walk into the office yelling I needed to move the truck.
I told him he had to give me a min because I was on the phone . That only upset him more and he took a swing at me. I ducked the swing and continued towards the office & called the owner who was on his way.
He then came to the office beating on the windows & I let him in not realizing he had a firearm in his pocket.
Once he entered the building a few words we're exchanged & he pulled his gun from his pocket and shot me point blank in the chest I turned to take cover behind the desk and make my way to the back door and he fired a second shot hitting me in my neck.
I somehow managed to continue toward the bathroom door that leads to the shop and before entering it he fired at me again & luckily missed. I shut that door behind me and made my way into the shop garage panicked at this point because I thought he was still pursuing me. When I got to the lower front door I opened it and there he stood pointing the gun at me, I quickly shut & locked that door & made my way back up to the office locking the front door to prevent him from reentering the building. I then grabbed the phone and call 911.
I was airlifted to the University of Louisville Hospital
I will be posting a copy of the procedures I had to undergo as soon as I am released from the hospital..
I am truly blessed to still be alive.
