“For Our Hero’s: The LCPL Lasher Project”
The family and friends of LCPL Jeremy Lasher would like the opportunity to continue supporting our veterans, their families, our fallen heroes and our community. To summarize our goals we would like to purchase, renovate and operate a 9-hole golf course in memory of Jeremy and use those profits to continue funding our future projects. The golf course and your donations would help us fund projects such as; annual scholarships to local students, building a veterans memorial, and helping local veterans and their families through activities, home renovations, childcare assistance, job placement, counseling, financial assistance or other ways to help those who have done so much for us.
Jeremy Lasher was a hardworking man who had a deep love for his family and was passionate about art, music, engineering and golf while growing up. Jeremy’s love for golf began when he was young; he enjoyed playing recreationally and held multiple jobs on different courses in the areas where he lived. Jeremy was a volunteer firefighter and a U.S. Marine. He served one deployment in Iraq and lost his life while serving in Afghanistan as a part of 2nd Battalion 8th Marines. Jeremy was killed July 23, 2009 in an IED attack and left behind a loving wife and son. During his service Jeremy was awarded many medals, some of which included: Iraq Campaign Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Navy Presidential Unit Citation Ribbon, Combat Action Ribbon, and the Purple Heart Medal.
LCPL Jeremy Lasher’s life exemplified outstanding service of someone who lived in defense of his family, country and community. He didn’t choose to fight because he hated what was in front of him, he fought because he loved what he left behind.
We are looking for donations to acquire a 40+ acre piece of property in Upstate New York to revitalize an existing 9 hole golf course with pro-shop and other amenities. It needs to be rebuilt from the ground up as it is over grown with vegitation. The property will also feature a banquet hall that will be capable of hosting year round events such as weddings, parties, conferences, and other events that will help provide funds for continued operations. We also plan on going GREEN on the property. This includes Solar for the structures, as well electric equipment for course maintance. After acquisition and renovation a piece of the property will be donated for a Veteran’s memorial to honor those that have served our country.
Since Jeremy had a love of art, music, and engineering throughout his life we will award a select number of scholarships on a yearly basis to students from local schools who reflect the qualities and aspirations that Jeremy possessed. The number and amount of scholarships will be determined by annual profits and/or donations. We will also provide a safe haven and resources for veterans transitioning into society after their end of active service. Any remaining profits will be awarded to other Veteran foundations.
*****"If acquisition of this property falls through, the money donated thus far will be used for veterans services, scholarships and the building of a veterans memorial elsewhere in the community."
