Don protégé
We are La Gente, the student-run and student-funded alternative news publication for the Latina/o community at UCLA and beyond.
Since 1971 we've documented the cultural, social and political developments of the Chicana/o and Latina/o communities.
Our team is made up of student writers, artists and activists--all who believe La Gente is one avenue through which change can be made.
Check us out at LaGente.org and see our digital, quarterly publications at http://issuu.com/lagentenewsmag!

Fall 2013 Vol. 44 Issue 1, Cover by Oscar Magallanes
Our goal is to raise funds for the costs of our Winter and Spring print publications. Our funding sources have been unstable and decreasing due to the disagreement among a few as to "why [we are] still printing."
However, print is essential to us. We believe in print because parts of our community do not have access to the Internet, and, therefore, no access to our online journalism. Print allows us to circulate our work to marginalized areas instead of further marginalizing them.
We appreciate any support that you can provide. It will allow us to continue printing and allow us to continue representing Latina/o experiences, which are often underrepresented and misrepresented in mainstream news media.
