Lyme Borreliosis Complex
Donation protected
I was diagnosed with Lyme Borreliosis Complex along with Bartonella, Babesia and Mycoplasma (all tick borne diseases) after almost a decade of doctors and dead ends. I got my diagnosis in April 2014 and spent 2 and a half months "prepping" my body for the nightmare of what is/was to come. Treatment itself is expected to last a minimum of 3 years in total, with insurance NOT covering 95% of it.
I have been out of work since January 2nd of this year and recieved my last paycheck in February. I have completely drained my resources to pay for my housing bills, my supplements and prescriptions as well as medical costs. My mom has been a great support. She had to move in with me, to care for me. My insurance company would not even cover home health care to change the dressing on my Power Line (central line) or the IV dosing, so my mom and I have had to learn how to do all of it. There are days where she has to push full force on my hips and then pry my legs apart for me to move. I herx (Herxheimer reaction) and have seizures. I have days that require me to use a cane or a walker. There are days where I can barely get out of bed to use the restroom. I have lost all my pride, all the money I saved, all the things I've worked so hard for and have greatly been humbled by this experience.
At this time, I am in dire need of financial assistance. Just one "round" of treatment costs about $7000.00 (that is usually for 4-6 weeks of treatment.) Never one to ask for assistance in any form, I ask you to help me to save my life through donations going to treatment. Lyme and it's co infections could have killed me in less than a year from when I got my diagnosis. My brother died suddenly 2 years ago. I can't stop treatment or else it will come back stronger than ever and possibly end up life or death again. I can not have my mom go throught that. Please help if you can.
If you are, as I was prior to my diagnosis, one of the many that think Lyme disease is cureable, you are very wrong. Lyme disease is only cureable in the first 2 stages. Once you hit level 3 or Chronic Lyme (aka LBC) you are never fully able to get rid of the bacteria, but you can go into remission (no active infection). Unfortunately, due to lack of Lyme Literate Doctors and the political issues surrounding the disease, it is often not caught at a time when it is cureable. So many like me suffer for years or decades without intervention. Lyme affects EVERY system in your body (though it favors major joints, such as the knees and the brain.) I have a chronic, multisystemic, inflammatory illness.
The Lyme is bad enough unto itself but throw in the others and it a breeding ground inside my body. Babasia is similar to Malaria and is treated with antimalarials. Bartonella attacks the brain the most. It is literally limiting blood flow to the frontal lobes of my brain. Mycoplasma is like having walking pneumonia all the time.
I have started a blog (lymestorm.com) if anyone reading this is interested in what my experience has been like.
