Hello, My Name is George Scott.
Im a Husband, Father, brother, and son.
Im 22 years old, and I have cancer.
I was diagnosed 1/03/2014, I was diagnosed with
Acute lymphoblastic T cell leukemia, and
Acute lymphoblastic T cell lymphoma.
I have been fighting this cancer for a little more then a year and a half.
I do my best to stay positve. When Im not to sick I try to live a normal life. The Zoo, a movie, dinner with the family.
My orginal prognosis was actually not that scary once you swallow the intial fact that you have cancer.
I had better then 75% chance of survival and full recovery over the next 5 years!
In August of 2014 I beat this thing!
But it was to be short lived.
3 months later, in November they informed that it was back and more agressive this time.
They said I had 3 weeks to 6 months to live with out treatment.
They said with treatment it was 50-50 for the next 5 years.
So in December I started my treatments, in Febuary of 2015 I had a bone marrow transplant that my brother donated to me.
Im was going strong working to get my strength back and get healthy after the transplant and reach the 100 day mark. So I could say that I was in remission!
Finally the day comes, I celebrate and my family and I are so Happy.
The following week we do test to make sure everything is going well.
Thing after thing, going good.
But wait, what's this on the CT scan?
A Cancer's Mass larger then the first one! (larger the a softball and a half!)
An what else 16oz of water on my heart!
The doctors sit me down and explain they will not give up on me as long as I dont give up on them.
I said Im a fighter with plenty to fight for.
They inform me that I have 20% chance of survival for the next YEAR!
But I refuse to give up.
Started doing my treatments, working on getting better.
Until a bump in the road! I owe money for insurance in the excess of $1100.00
An to boot I owe, about $8900.00 to doctors that my insurance does not cover. (that's after having finacial assitance right stuff off)
(UPDATE 6/28/2015 I have got a few more write off's and a small grant from the cancer society. Taking $6248 off the $10,000 Leaving us only $3752 to come up with)
I'm a father of two children. I want to be here for until Im old and gray. I have more then Enough reasons to fight.
I just dont have the money to pay for the fight.
Will you help me?.....Forget me Will you help my children grow up with a father that loves them? That Thinks the world of them? My children our my life.
Please Consider assisting us. Thank you
Summary of how I found out I had cancer:
After weeks of feeling like crap, refusing to see a doctor, forcing myself to go to work. (Being the Stubborn pain I am, mind you)
I finally go to the ER, (On my Mother's Wedding day no less) only because I had not slept more the 3-5 hours in the past 5 or 6 days.
After waiting for what seemed like an eternity, the ER DR looks me over, listens to me, runs a ct scan.
An eventually come an tells me I have walking pneumonia. He gives me some perscriptions and says you will be good as new in 7-10 days.
Well about the 6 day rolls around an dIm feeling worse then I did a week ago, but there was no way I was telling this to anyone. As well I have been sleeping less and less.
That night I was watching tv with my roommate and his girlfriend, my roommate says to me George, your face is turning Blue and Purple! (my throat and neck had been swelling up after the ER visit.)
So they take me to the ER (again, ugh) But I went along because the face discolorment was scary.
I walked into the ER by myself, (I was not letting this ruin my roommates night) the nurse checking people in stood up and RAN to me with a wheel chair, shoved me into and hooked me up to oxygen.
An started running tests, (I couldnt speak so no point asking me questions yet) They inform me that my Blood oxygen level is so low I shouldnt be alive let alone be able to walk into the ER.
Im able to finally talk a little bit and establish who am.
They take me back run who knows what test on me.
Stick me in a little room, and say wait here.
I call my mom, because my wife is at work, whom comes straight over to be with me.
After as far as I can tell has been a century, the ER Dr opens the door says, we think you have cancer and closes the door.
After awhile a cancer doctor comes in a talks to me explains to me that I have a mass in my chest behind my
trachea larger then softball.
After a night in the hospital Im life flighted to Murray hospital, in SLC, UT.
The place a stent in my trachea so that I can breath, and get treatment.
After a few days, the send me to the LDS Hospital where I have done all of my treatment since.
