Help Maddox Take His First Steps
Hi, I’m Kaitlyn, Maddox’s mom, and I’d love to share a little of his story with you.
Maddox is almost three years old, and he’s already overcome more than most people do in a lifetime. He was born with a rare condition called gastroschisis, where his intestines were outside of his body at birth. From the very beginning, he fought to survive and heal.
As Maddox grew, we began to notice delays in his development. He was later diagnosed with cerebral palsy (CP) and PVL (periventricular leukomalacia), a type of brain injury that affects movement and coordination. Since infancy, Maddox has been in therapy, working week after week to strengthen his body, build balance, and develop motor skills that many of us take for granted.
Today, he uses a walker to get around. But walking independently, without it, is still out of reach.
What is DMI Therapy?
DMI, or Dynamic Movement Intervention, is a specialized, intensive physical therapy program that helps children with neuromotor conditions like Maddox’s. It’s built on the idea that the brain can relearn how to move the body through structured, repetitive exercises that challenge strength, posture, and coordination.
Maddox will be pushed in ways he never has before… climbing, balancing, reaching, and stepping. Every movement will require focus, determination, and physical effort. But his therapists believe he is the perfect candidate, and that this therapy could finally help him take his first steps without the use of a walker.
Why We’re Asking for Support
DMI therapy is a medical service that often is not covered by insurance, which is why we’re opening up this fundraiser. We’re accepting donations to help cover the cost of the intensive program and give Maddox this incredible opportunity to move closer to independence.
If you feel led to give, thank you. If you can’t, we would still love your prayers and support as Maddox takes on this next big step—literally.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for cheering him on. He’s strong, joyful, determined, and we’re so proud of how far he’s come.
With love,
