My friendship with Mark Hogan goes back almost 35 years ago when I was living with my grandparents on Coffman Drive in Athens, Alabama. Mark was one of those special young men who took time with a kid. Over the years, Mark & I have stayed in contact. A couple of years ago, I took my grandmother and aunt to Somerville, Georgia, and we spent time with Mark & his wife, Missy, at a local restaurant. As it turned out, we had a 105 year old cousin, who lived near Mark and his family, who needed medical equipment and Mark found some of the equipment that she needed. My family was very appreciative of his efforts. Since The Mark White Show began, Mark has sent me various causes that I have featured on the show. It was because of Mark that I knew about these people and their needs.
Tonight, I found out that Mark has been in the hospital in Rome, Georgia, since early June and he is struggling. The following was posted by Mark's sister, Kathy Hogan Moultrie, on 7/20/19:
“For any of you that know my beloved baby brother Mark Hogan, it has been three weeks since he was admitted to the hospital in Rome, Georgia, with a brain hemorrhage. His blood pressure was extremely high. Three days later, he had two episodes resulting in a shower of small clots/strokes on both sides of the brain. This put things to a huge down turn. Mark remains in ICU with a Trech, on oxygen, NG tube (feeding tube). He does understand and shakes his head yes and no. Blood pressure has yet to be controlled. Physical therapy did an evaluation yesterday, there is movement in arms, legs, & head. He sat up with assistance. PT will continue again on Monday. This will be a very long road. Right now, someone has to be in the room and stay overnight. Please keep Mark, Missy, and their girls, ages 19 and 13, in your prayers. Mark is a graduate of Mortimer Jordan High School. I believe Class of 1985.”
As soon as I found out, I reached out to Mark’s wife, Missy. My grandparents loved Mark as do I. In this situation, I’m here to help if the family wants me to do so. I spoke to Mark's wife, Missy, and she gave me the green light to help. This fundraiser has been established to help Mark and his family as they face the loss of income and prospects of higher insurance premiums by October.
Mark Hogan reached out to me about the needs of others and now, he needs others to reach out about him. Right now, pray for Mark and his family. I encourage you to become one of Mark Hogan's Heroes by sharing and donating to this effort! You never know when it might be you who needs assistance.
