Tucker Family Support Fund

Family and Friends,

On November 11th 2014, McKennzie Tucker was stricken with a rare illness called Transverse Myelitis. A condition in which her antibodies entered her central nervous system allowing them to destroy the myelin in her spinal cord breaking her brain's connection with her lower body causing her to be paralyzed with no feeling from the chest down. McKennzie spent a week in the ICU and 2 more weeks on the pediatric floors at Florida Hospital for Children. On December 2nd she was transported to a rehabilitation hospital in Jacksonville, Florida where she is receiving intensive rehabilitation 5-6 hours per day.

Through faith, family, and friends we have barely been able to come to terms with what has happened to our beautiful little girl. We as a family find ourselves in a terrible situation as the insurance company we'd had since our return from China in 2006, misapplied a payment which prompted our account to be reviewed. In early August our insurance company decided that due to my prior brush with cancer years ago, they no longer wanted to provide insurance to my family. Immediately after receiving this decision from the insurance company, our youngest daughter Willow got sick and ended up in the hospital with Cat Scratch Disease. We found out at that time that we were not eligible for new insurance until the "exchanges" opened up November 15th. Unfortunately, McKennzie's illness occured just a few days before. Thankfully both hospitals have been wonderful and have exerted every effort in support of first Willow and now McKennzie.

As we look ahead to McKennzie's possible homecoming in late December, we find ourselves in need of a special bed, wheelchair, ramps, a re-work of the bathroom, and other special family related needs, etc. Many of you, our friends and family, have asked how they can help as our struggles are so great at this time. This prompted us to set up this site for anyone who wishes to help.

We appreciate your thoughts and prayers and pray God's healing hand touches our wonderful daughter guiding her precious little body to heal itself allowing her only Christmas wish to come true....to walk again.
