Help Maria (Mi Buenaventura)Rebuild

Maria Rosa’s (Mi Buenaventura Restaurant) plea: “I will rebuild my business, even if no one helps me, I will rebuild, because this is what I live off of. When I moved to North Avenue in 1984, there was nothing here. This was all just drugs & vandalism. I had to endure all this. They would come into my business and assault me and that is what I had to endure. The police force should know what I went through here, the retired police officers. They know how much I suffered and what I had to endure to have my business here. That building in front used to be a firehouse and it was El Indio bar that bought that building. We were the only ones here. We both were the first ones here and we both had to endure all this, and this street, little by little has transformed to what is now. This is not the manner for the police and City Hall, who know how long I have been here, for them to treat me like this, like a rag. It should not be this way.” Read her story North Ave Demolition coverage .
