Mitchell Gibson (Mitchell Collins), 27 years old, recently went missing at Lake Richard B Russell in Calhoun Falls, SC, he was last seen on Saturday, March 12, 2016. His truck and trailer were found at Beer Creek Garden Landing on March 13, 2016. Mitchell NOR the boat have ever been found. Search and rescue efforts by DNR and volunteers was extensive; however, their efforts were halted and the search has been continued on by the family/friends since that time.
His jacket with cell phone in pocket, bait bucket, gas jug, life jackets, and seat cushion were found upstream from the dam at Markers 14/16 on Lake Russell, located between Millwood Ramp and Beer Creek Garden Landing, on Sunday March 13, 2016. Friends, family, and the brotherhood of fishermen and boaters in the area have continued to search for his remains since that day!
We are continuing our efforts to find closure each and every day! Mitchell was an avid hunter and an avid fisherman. While we have utilized many efforts to find Mitchell including air, multiple types of sonar technology that is available in our area, canine searches, and multiple boat and land searches, it is highly unlikely that he will be found unless we utilize special underwater sonar technology. We have contacted recovery specialists, Ralston and Associates, to pursue this effort.
The cost to transport the underwater sonar technology, boat, recovery robot, and other miscellaneous operational equipment will be over $4,700 and the operator, Gene Ralston, donating his time. When he arrives, we will only be responsible for costs of fuel/oil and lodging. Once we complete the search and recovery, there will be added costs for burial services, transport, etc.
While we are making every effort to cover what costs we can, we would be extremely grateful for any donations that can be made to assist with covering the costs of transporting the sonar equipment, technology, and operators to Calhoun Falls, SC. We are also raffling off various donated items and 100% of those proceeds will benefit the family in their search.
Mitchell is the father of an 3-year old little girl named Kalaya. He is survived by his wife, siblings, young nieces and nephews, his parents, cousins, aunts, uncles, grandparents, friends, and a family of fishermen and hunting buddies who have known him since childhood. Saying that he will be sorely missed is a painful understatement. Saying that we need closure is not saying enough.
We are hoping to get Gene Ralston and his underwater sonar equipment as soon as possible. With your support, we can make this recovery effort a possibility. With your prayers, donations, support we can get closure.

When all of this began, back in March of 2016, the family had a GoFundMe and raised about $4500. Search efforts are extensive and this money was utilized to pay for all previous search efforts. The family never realized that this was a never-ending nightmare, that it would be October and that they would still be searching for Mitchell, still trying to bring him home, still praying for peace and closure!
