New Bellsville Cemetery Restoration

The New Bellsville Cemetery Association is raising funds to restore the historic aging headstones in our cemetery. Many stones date back to the mid 1800s. Some are headstones of many famous and historic figures in Brown County history. There are several sandstone stones carved by the well known stone carver Henry Cross. Many stones are leaning, all are showing signs of wear from algae growth, and most stones are in need of attention. With careful attention over the next several years, this cemetery can become a place of dignity and respect for the pioneers of Brown County.

In order to restore and preserve these historic headstones funds are needed to hire a professional retoration company or purchase equipment and supplies to do what we can on our own. We recieved a quote from a professional restorer of $28,000 in 2013.  You see this is a huge project.

The New Bellsville Cemetery is located in scenic Van Buren Township, Brown County, Indiana, USA, just east of the Harmony Baptist Church, located near the junction of Mount Liberty Road and Bellsville Pike.
