Needle To The Record

Its been two years now, and I've been blessed to experience music from a new point of view…The DJ booth. DJs are the unsung heroes of the night. In the mornings they can set the mood for the day and in the afternoon they get you over that midday hump. I myself am not a DJ, but I LOVE music!

I am a full time blogger and editor for a DJ magazine. This is my dream job, and the DJs that I talk to will tell you that spinning records is their passion. I work very hard to support myself doing what I love. I have been invited to cover clubs and events across the country by DJs and Artist alike. I can only wish to visit them all and give them the exposure and introduce music lovers to the world of these entertainers through my magazine and blog interviews. This has been costly but rewarding and not to mention these gatekeepers of hip hop music are excited to tell their story. The money that we seek will make this part of the dream come to fruition for not only me but the striving artist and the professional DJs.

A few days after attending South By Southwest, my business partner and I attended the quarterly Virdiko DJ mixer in Dallas. After leaving this mixer we watched the videos collected from SXSW and from the DJ mixer that night, and thought about how great it would be to bring this side of the music industry to the public through film. He says, "Let's stop all the speculation and false hoods and bring the gritty and not so glamorous side music to the public."

The best way to do this is through crowd funding. Through crowd funding, we can do this our way. No film studio or label interference on what we can put on film.
We want to take you into the world of the indie artist who's every day life is a video. We want to tell the story from the block to the studio booth to the DJ booth. Once these trap stars make it to mainstream the lifestyle changes and rawness has a way of getting stipend.

And this is where you come in.
We've estimated the full film would cost $8,000 and would take 6 weeks to film with various locations throughout the country. This money is for transportation, food, and hotel rooms.

You will be apart of this journey that will take you back in time to the days of street corner cypher to some of the hoods that birth our current and future Hip Hop legends.
