PRAJJE 1983 HAITI FASHION PROJECT CAMPAIGN

Prajje 1983 www.prajje1983.com is a start‐up fashion brand and the brainchild of Haitian‐born New York‐Based designer, Prajje Jean‐Baptiste. Until last year, Prajje had never showcased his work in his native country.

In December 2014, he returned to Haiti for the first time since leaving it as a young teen and presented a major fashion exhibition in Petion‐Ville, showcasing Prajje 1983 past and present creations and connecting him with Haitian artisans.

Overwhelmed by the challenges that Haiti faces, but seeing its tremendous economic potential, Prajje decided right then to help to write a more successful Haitian narrative by contributing to the country’s progress and growth. The idea for a new collection was born, inspired by two of Haiti's most mystical goddesses "Erzulie Freda and Erzulie Dantor."

Prajje is currently in Haiti working with a group of Haitian women artisans from Port Salut exploring embroidery, beading. The ultimate goal is to create a collection fabricated in Haiti and to champion the “Made in Haiti” brand. His GoFundMe campaign will help jumpstart that initial collaborative effort.

His GoFundMe campaign is the culmination of his wish to collaborate with Haitian artists and creative people to build a business that mutually benefits its participants, drawing on the rich culture that has inspired him since the beginning. http://www.gofundme.com/Prajje‐1983‐Haiti.

After completion of his studies at Mass College of Art and Design in Boston, Prajje moved to New York to pursue his dreams of a luxury fashion industry in his homeland. Prajje has dressed some of the most beautiful and powerful women, including Lara Spencer, GMA; CNN Anchor Sunny Huston; and Sudanese model Alek Wek. Another Haitian native son and celebrity, Wyclef Jean, has also worn original Prajje designs.

                 ABOUT PRAJJE JEAN-BAPTISTE

Prajje Jr. Jean Baptiste, one of Boston most promising designers, was born in Haiti and came to the US in his teens. He studied Art & Design at Massachusetts College of Art and Design, graduating with a degree in Fashion Design.
In 2003 Prajje opened his own fashion company, Prajje 1983, and was immediately recognized for his luxurious and exotic styles. Prajje is a leading exemplar of ethnic-inspired fashion. He is best known, however, for his glamorous evening dresses, at once romantic, dramatic, and feminine. Prajje is a brilliant colorist. Nothing in his opinion, contributes more to a womans beauty than clear, brilliant color. But it is Prajjes understanding of the female form, his exquisite cut, and his subtle use of texture and body-worshipping fabrics that magnify the beauty of women wearing his designs, and make them the cynosure of all eyes.
Prajje has dressed some of the most beautiful and powerful women in America, whether socialites, celebrities or CEOs. His clientele includes Lara Spencer, GMA; Sara Underwood, Fox 25 anchor; model Maya Gaile Haile, spouse of celebrity chef Marcus Samuelsson; Sunny Hustin, CNN anchor; Alek Wek; Manouschka Guerrier, private chef of Beverly Hills; Saran Kaban Jones, Founder of FACE Africa; and last but not least, singer and record publisher Wyclef Jean.
To date Prajje 1983 has shown to an international runway, and has been featured in some of the most prestigious publications and TV programs, such as ELLE Magazine, Arise Magazine, the Boston Globe, the Boston Herald, Good Morning America and All on the line.  Prajje 1983 is growing into a remarkable brand. Yet Prajje Jr. Jean-Baptiste believes that his proudest moments are still ahead of him and sees each day as a learning experience.
