Project Africa (Phase 2)

Donation protected
Hi! I am appealing to you for the funds to get to Africa! More specifically, I am trying to get myself and two other young artists to Ghana with Dr. Umar Johnson's group that's going Summer 2016 for education and exposure to our roots.

WHO AM I?

My name is RAHKUA and I am a creative artist (singer/actress/writer/model) living in Los Angeles, who is passionate about music, art, health, education, social justice, and LIFE!

WHAT IS PROJECT AFRICA?

I just returned from the experience of a lifetime!
Through the efforts of Project Africa and donations from amazing people from all over the country and abroad, I was afforded the unforgettable experience to travel to Egypt and Ghana with Dr. Umar Johnson's annual tour.

In addition to the amazing sites, people, places, foods, and art, I was able to organize and perform a LIVE show while in Accra, Ghana! It was a dream come true.

The next accomplishment, and 3rd point of action in Project Africa's tri-fold plan, is to sponsor this LIFE-CHANGING experience for two other young artists. I want to be able to offer this truly impactful educational/cultural/artistic voyage to two talented applicants who would accompany me on the trip AND perform on an even bigger show, again with a live band and energized audience.

WILL YOU BE A PART OF MAKING A DIFFERECE!?

WHERE WILL THE FUNDS GO?

$15,000 seems like a whole lot of money, I know, BUT it is actually a modest amount in relation to what will actually be needed for this voyage. That amount covers $5,000 for each of the 3 people PALA will sponsor for this trip.

Here are some of the base expenditures:
*The Summer 2015 voyage with Dr. Umar's 2nd Annual Best of Both Worlds East-West, Egypt to Ghana Tour cost $4,500.
*The tour left from New York, which required me to get a roundtrip plane ticket there for $468.
*Egyptian Visa: $25 / Ghanaian Visa: $60

SO, already the bare necessities have exceeded $5,000 and that's not including food while abroad, travel to/from domestic airport, passport for those that don't already have it; medical obligations for yellow fever and malaria requirements; souvenirs; and miscellaneous expenses.

Thus, $15,000 is the bare minimum that would allow for the successful voyage of the three artists.

HOW CAN YOU HELP!?

Well, of course a donation, regardless of the size would be an amazing way to show your support! After you have donated (even if it's just $1) you could get others involved by tweeting/ facebooking/ emailing/ instagramming/ snapchatting/ tumblring/ youtubing...ok you get the point haha, there are SO many social media outlets out there where you can spread the word; and of course simply talking to your friends and family about it in person and directing them to the site always works too!
