SUPPORT RACELYN'S MICROPHTHALMIA

Donation protected

September 10th, 2012 Racie (Racelyn) Lane was laid upon my chest after a long awaited delivery. I couldn't be more excited to finally be holding my sweet baby girl, as she and i locked eyes for the very first time, my heart sank. I immediately noticed something terribly wrong with her right eye. I watched as she gazed around the room, her eye looked tiny and deformed. She blinked and squinted as if the light bothered her, i told my husband "there is something wrong with her eye". He went and got the doctor and she was rushed away just minutes after being born. After hours of testing an ophthalmologist came in to tell us the news. We were informed that Racie has Optic Nerve Coloboma and Microphthalmia. Her eye did not form during pregnancy and her optic nerve is in-existent. We were told that she has no vision in that eye and there was nothing that can be done to correct it. As a result of the Microphthalmia, Racie's eye/ eye socket is severely underdeveloped, meaning that without a fully sized "globe" (eye ball) her eye socket will not be stimulated to grow and as she gets bigger,it will start to sag/ look uneven with the other side of her face. 9 months later, She has seen ophthalmologist after ophthalmologist, geneticists, and many ocularists , they have all come to one conclusion. Racie will need to wear a prosthetic eye for the rest of her life in order to have a more "normal" looking eye and facial structure. Please help us in raising money for Racie's prosthetic eye!!!
